Turkey, a fertile land for Algerian entrepreneurs

Apart from the tourist aspect of the country, Turkey is attracting more and more Algerian nationals. Indeed, between students, researchers and entrepreneurs, there would be between 10,000 and 20,000 Algerians to appear on the lists of the Turkish immigration department.

Compared to European countries, Turkey offers ease of procedures for foreigners wishing to visit this country. The reason why many Algerian students opt for the scholarships offered by this country to pursue their studies abroad. Indeed, according to the latest figures communicated by the Turkish vice-president, 500 Algerians have benefited from government scholarships.

This is the case of Amina, a 19-year-old Algerian student. Thanks to the Türkiye Diyanet Vakfı scholarship which allowed her to pursue midwifery training at the University of Sakarya. For this Algerian student, the fear of not being able to use their diplomas hinders the desire of Algerians to continue their studies in this country. These Algerian students are not the only ones thinking of this country as their next destination, entrepreneurs see it as fertile ground for their projects.

Immigration: Turkey arouses the interest of Algerian entrepreneurs

Aside from university benches, Algerians are also attracted to entrepreneurship in Turkey. A doctoral student in business and administration in Istanbul and owner of a sustainable clothing line, Nour Adimi told Midlle Est Eye that Turkey has become a haven for foreigners who wish to embark on entrepreneurship, particularly in the sector. textiles. According to the latter, this country facilitates the procedures for project leaders, particularly in terms of the availability of textiles and workshops.

According to Djamel Adda, a member of the Algerian Diaspora Forum in Turkey, this country represents fertile ground for trade. With the required skills and a command of the Turkish language, Algerians are particularly present as entrepreneurs in Turkey.

Another Algerian who chose Turkey to launch his project, Walid Baba Addoune. In addition to being a consultant in the real estate sector, this Algerian has also launched his own textile brand. For the latter, the conditions for launching his project are more favorable in Turkey than in Algeria. This helped the development of his business.

Moreover, faced with this interest expressed by Algerians towards this country, their number in Turkey is likely to decrease, in particular in case of the restrictions which will be imposed on foreigners. Faced with the large number of refugees welcomed each year in this country, Turkey plans to tighten these immigration conditions. This is the case for obtaining a residence permit and Turkish nationality.
